I am thoroughly committed to the DHDC's mission to revitalize and beautify downtown Hays Kansas. I work to actively engage and energize volunteers, board members, event committees, organizations and business owners.

​

In this position I have accomplished much that I am proud of. I have secured grants up to $100,000. I have created from the ground up very successful events including Brews on the Bricks. I was also named the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce Rising Star.

​

This position requires all areas of expertise including money management, event planning, graphic design, writing, social media, volunteer coordinations, speaking skills and more. I get the opportunity to work with a variety of personalities and age differences which gives me unique perspectives and insight.

Marketing & Media Manager

After being hired for Legend Senior Living, it took less than six months for me to be promoted from a graphic design position to a management position.

 

I was responsible for managing and communicating with a team of designers and marketing specialists who control the marketing strategy and pieces for 29 locations across 5 states. I handled the negotiation and approval of all media contracts including newspaper, radio, yellow page, billboards and more. I also helped create attractive advertising pieces in a variety of media and work closely with marketing strategies and demographics to make sure pieces and events are effective.

 

My writing and proofing skills were kept sharp with press releases, marketing copy, news articles, facility requests and more.

​Responsible for creating attractive advertising pieces in a variety of media such as newspapers, magazines, cable bulletin boards, flyers and posters, web graphics, billboards, direct mails and more. Work closely with marketing strategies and demographics to make sure pieces are effective.

Advertising Specialist

December 2007 - May 2010

 

Work one on one with clients and their businesses to establish an attractive and cost effective directory advertising program that gets new and old customers in their door. Despite a recession, increased overall revenue assigned to me my first year by 37%, my second year by 16%. Assisted with the design and wording of marketing pieces used to sell our product to the public. Worked closely with two graphic designers to make sure the ad my client purchased will come out the way the client pictures it as well as grabs attention.

Production Manager

​September 2006 - December 2007

 

​Responsible for all graphical, technical and engineering aspects of commercial production. Responsible for all on site commercial production including lighting, sound and camera operation. Responsible for the editing, graphics and voicing of all commercial spots. Created business logos, screen slates, flyers and moving graphics on a daily basis. Always met strenuous production deadlines while working hard to not allow product quality to suffer. Constantly troubleshot equipment malfunctions and discovered solutions in a confident and fast manner. Hosted a daily “Newstalk” segment over the noon hour as well as interviewed high school athletes about their sport seasons.

News Producer

​May 2005 - August 2005 and January 2006 - September 2006

 

​I started an unpaid internship in May of 2005 and was a hired as an hourly employee after only a few weeks at the station. Although asked to stay on, I left in August 2005 to graduate from Fort Hays State University. I was quickly rehired after graduation in a salaried full time position. l coordinated and created both morning and noon newscasts for a major metro news station and was responsible for organizing and writing the entire newscast to make each talent look and sound as good as possible. I coordinated reporters, anchors and other staff to develop a look that would attract audiences to our station versus the competition. Directed reporters, anchors and other staff inside the control room to make sure the show went on with no surprises and within a specific time frame.
